Maerkte Stuttgart GmbH, within its municipal remit, operates a wholesale market for food and flowers, runs the Stuttgarter Markthalle and organises market events in particular weekly markets, flea markets, traders' markets and local fairs. The wholesale market sits on a 200,000 square metre site and in 2023 was fully occupied by about 100 wholesalers, 80 producers and over 45 florists; approximately 398,980 tonnes of goods were handled in 2023. Services include rental of stand areas and halls, goods intake/recycling and provision of services; total revenue for the 2023 financial year amounted to 10,561 TEUR. The company continues ongoing maintenance and modernisation measures (e.g. LED conversion, façade and roof insulation, heating refurbishment) and pursues objectives to maintain site attractiveness and to digitalise administrative processes. The company is a small company under § 267 (1) HGB and is therefore not required to publish a profit-and-loss statement.
