The company was founded on 7 May 2012 and is based in Cologne; its business purpose is the trade, advertising and distribution of medical and orthopedic products, their components and spare parts. Oessur Germany distributes medtech products of the Oessur group in the segments prosthetics and orthotics mainly in Germany, in other EU countries and, with medi products, also outside the EU; research and development are performed at group level. The product range includes a full assortment of prostheses for upper and lower limbs (e.g. feet, knees, hands, fingers, liners) as well as orthoses and supports for the spine, knee, hip, foot, ankle and hand. Approximately 95% of sold aids are reimbursed by statutory health insurers; statutory health insurer spending on aids increased in 2023 by 7.7% to EUR 11.2 billion.
