Stadtwerke Heilbad Heiligenstadt GmbH

As of December 31, 2024, Stadtwerke Heilbad Heiligenstadt GmbH supplies 10,091 customers with electricity and 579 customers with heat and operates and distributes electricity and district heating networks as well as generating electricity and heat. The municipal company offers energy management solutions and information and advisory services for households, commercial and service companies, trade and industry and cooperates closely with EW Energie GmbH and TEN Thueringer Energienetze GmbH & Co. KG. Since 2015 approximately 60% of its produced electricity and about 40% of its heat have been generated from CO2-neutral biogas; in 2024 a photovoltaic ground-mounted plant in Kalteneber with about 4 MW capacity was commissioned, expected to cover around 20% of household and commercial energy demand and save about 2,300 t CO2 annually. In fiscal 2024 the company recorded revenues of 26,484 TEUR, an operating result (EBIT) of 2,094 TEUR and invested a total of 3,240 TEUR in tangible assets, of which 2,445 TEUR related to the Kalteneber PV plant.
