DFS Energy GmbH

DFS Energy GmbH generates and distributes electricity, heat, steam and cooling using combined heat-power-cooling plants and operates the associated energy centre at the DFS campus in Langen. It supplies exclusively a fixed circle of commercial customers on the campus, specifically DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH, the Paul-Ehrlich-Institut and the Umweltbundesamt. The customer structure is state-controlled — the customers are 100.00 percent federal ownership — and deliveries are based on long-term media contracts including KWKG subsidies. Due to the classification of its grid-side facilities as customer facilities for self-supply, the company is not subject to the EnWG regulatory requirements for network operators.
