Europaeisches Microsoft Innovations Center GmbH was founded on 7 February 2003 and is the only Microsoft research and development center located in Germany. The company provides research and development services within the group with a focus on cloud computing, in particular speech recognition, Internet of Things (IoT), search, artificial intelligence (AI) and mixed reality. It does not generate revenues from third parties; EMIC receives remuneration from Microsoft Ireland Research based on actual costs plus a markup and reported revenues of TEUR 23,720 for fiscal year 2023/2024. In 2023/2024 EMIC had an average workforce of 102 employees and recorded a net profit of TEUR 1,373 with operating expenses (HGB) of TEUR 22,135.
