Horizonte gGmbH was founded at the end of 2013 as a non-profit sponsor for Catholic day-care centres for children in the Krefeld and Kempen/Viersen regions and is registered at the Moenchengladbach commercial register (HRB 15851). The company's purpose is to promote child and youth welfare as well as education by operating Catholic day-care centres and similar institutions; the company contractually applies church regulations and the Diocese of Aachen statute. As of 01.08.2023 Horizonte operated 23 facilities with 75.5 groups and approximately 1,500 children; after the takeover of five nurseries on 01.01.2024 care increased to about 1,900 children in 93.5 groups. In the 2023/2024 financial year the company employed on average 402 staff, of which 335 were pedagogical and 67 were non-pedagogical employees.
