PFR Nord GmbH operates in Hohenwestedt on leased land of the sole shareholder and engages in trading, transport and the processing of plastics, in particular PET bottles. The core business is purchasing PET bottles, producing rPET flakes and selling them in Germany and other European countries; 37% of products were marketed in Germany and 63% in other European countries. The plant is mainly supplied via domestic purchases through the deposit return systems and has secured supply further by expanding European return systems. The bottles undergo a multi‑stage reprocessing to rPET flakes, are filled into Big Bags and quality‑controlled in an in‑house laboratory; on average 48 employees worked during the year and about 92% of flake production was fed into the bottle‑to‑bottle loop.
