AWO Saalfeld Dienstleistungs- und Service GmbH was founded in 2000 and provides services such as ergotherapy, physiotherapy, accommodation, kitchen and catering services, domestic and advisory services, crafts and janitorial services, as well as property development and rental. The business is conducted mainly under agreements with the affiliated company AWO Saalfeld gGmbH and the main shareholder Arbeiterwohlfahrt Kreisverband Saalfeld-Rudolstadt e.V., which provides stable operating conditions. In the 2024 financial year the company operated, among others, kitchens for kindergartens and care homes, the Hotel Garni in Schmiedefeld, the restaurant “Schlutius”, ergotherapy and physiotherapy practices, and the properties Melanchthonstrasse, Rainweg 83-89 and Wüste Koeditz. Demand for medical services was very high in 2024, leading to a marked increase in ergotherapy revenues, while the hospitality segment suffered from fewer guests and the restaurant remained closed.
