CARE-O-SENE is a German-South African research consortium dedicated to developing new catalysts for sustainable aviation fuels. The project aims to significantly reduce the climate impact of the aviation industry by optimizing catalysts for green kerosene production and making this alternative fuel economically more attractive. Through four distinct work packages, the initiative covers synthesis and microscale testing, characterization and modeling, scale-up and demonstration, and impact analysis. The consortium brings together seven major project partners from Germany and South Africa, collaborating with scientists, industry stakeholders, and international research forums. Its primary focus lies on the sustainable transformation of the aviation sector and preparing the groundwork for large-scale green kerosene manufacturing.
