Welte Fahrzeugbau GmbH develops, manufactures and sells forestry machines for extreme use in light, medium and heavy timber at its headquarters in Umkirch. The vehicles are based on a self-developed modular kit system and are designed as 4-, 6- and 8-wheel machines that uncompromisingly combine the functions of skidders, forwarders and harvesters. The sales market is focused on small and medium-sized forestry companies; state forestry offices and municipalities are also customers, and domestic distribution as well as sales in Austria and the BeNeLux countries are handled mainly by employed staff or dealers abroad. At year-end the company employed 75 staff (excluding management) and 5 trainees, and the report states that its market position is strengthened by numerous patents and product advantages. WELTE Fahrzeugbau GmbH is a family business.
