Export German company data – by WZ code, industry & region
With the company search on FirmenData you can export company data from all of Germany to an Excel file – filtered precisely by WZ 2025 code, industry, federal state (Bundesland), revenue, headcount and many more criteria. This guide shows, step by step, how to build a complete company list and download it.
Export companies by WZ code (WZ 2025)
The WZ code (the German classification of economic activities 2025, compatible with the European NACE system) is the fastest way to find and export every company in a given line of business across Germany.
- Open the Search page.
- In the filter sidebar, expand the WZ 2025 Code filter.
- Browse the tree through sections A–U – or type at least two characters to search directly by code or description (e.g.
62for “information technology services”). - Tick the WZ codes you want.
- The result list updates automatically. Click Export Excel above the table to download every company as an
.xlsxfile.
Filter by industry, region and size
You don't need to know the WZ code: FirmenData offers many filters that combine freely so you can export exactly the company list you need:
- Industry and WZ 2025 Code – by economic activity
- Bundesland and City – by region and location
- Revenue Range, Profit Range and Employee Count – by company size
- Legal form (GmbH, AG, UG, KG …) and Founded between – by company profile
- Has Website and Has Email – for lead generation and B2B address lists
- VAT ID, LEI code, CPV code and people (directors, shareholders) – for targeted research
Example: every GmbH in Bavaria with more than 50 employees and a website – just set the matching filters and export.

- Open the Search page and expand the Revenue Range filter.
- Tick the two ranges that together span €50M–€1B: 50 Mio – 100 Mio € and 100 Mio – 1 Bn €.

For each company the file includes, among others:
- Name, city and federal state (Bundesland)
